UNIVERSITY COMMONS
Located on Chicago’s Near South Side, University Commons is the largest condominium re-development in the United States consisting of 925 units in a six building complex. Covering three city blocks and spanning a five-year development process, this complex won numerous awards for its innovative approach to adaptive re-use of industrial structures including complex terra cotta facades. In his role as Chief Development Director for the Enterprise Development Company, Mr. Groesbeck was responsible for overseeing these design and construction of this project from inception to completion.
History
University Commons is situated immediately adjacent to the University of Illinois-Chicago campus, one of the most dynamic and energetic academic communities in the country with an enrollment of over 20,000 graduate and undergraduate students. Together with adjoining University Village, where 900 new homes are being built, this has become Chicago's most sought-after new neighborhood. The park-like UIC campus creates an environment of open green space, as well as the opportunity to enjoy lectures, films and plays from the University's vast recreational and cultural resources.
